Returns Policy

Please read our return and refund terms carefully. This policy applies to all purchases made through shop.statebuildings.com.
Nothing in this policy limits your rights under Australian Consumer Law (ACL).
- Gift Cards (Digital & Physical)
Includes, but is not limited to:
State Buildings Gift Card, COMO The Treasury Gift Card and COMO Shambhala Gift Certificate
Return & Refund Terms:
- Gift cards are non-refundable and cannot be redeemed for cash except where required under ACL.
- Gift cards cannot be used to purchase other gift cards.
- Please treat your gift card like cash — lost or stolen cards will not be replaced.
- If a gift card is defective, contact us immediately for assistance.
- Change-of-mind returns are not accepted.

- Experiences & Dining Gift Cards
Includes, but is not limited to:
Cape Arid Rooms Afternoon Tea Experience, Long Chim Dining and Petition Dining Experiences
Return & Refund Terms:
- Dining gift cards are non-refundable, non-transferable and not redeemable for cash.
- Validity periods are clearly stated on each experience product (3 years from purchase).
- Extensions are not available once the gift card has expired.
- You must present your gift card (printed or mobile) when redeeming your experience.
- Refunds are available only if the experience cannot be provided as described under the ACL.
- Change of mind does not qualify for a refund.
- Perishable Goods
Includes, but is not limited to:
Hampers, Cape Arid Teas, Christmas Six-Pack, Cape Arid Horizon Gin, COMO Shambhala Invigorate Bundle & Shelter
Return & Refund Terms:
- Due to liquor licensing laws and hygiene reasons, change-of-mind returns are not permitted for alcoholic products.
- Returns are accepted only if:
- The item is faulty, damaged, expired, or not as described; or
- We shipped the wrong item, with proof of purchase provided.
- For change-of-mind returns, items may be accepted at our discretion if:
- The item is returned within 14 days of delivery
- Is unused, original, and in resalable condition; and
- In the original packaging.
- Custom or made-to-order products (e.g. hampers) are not eligible for change-of-mind returns.
- Customers are responsible for return postage costs unless the return is due to our error.
- Please contact us before returning any item to receive instructions and approval.
- Non-perishable Goods
Includes, but is not limited to:
Books, prints, leather goods, gift bundles and some wellness products (COMO Shambhala Sleep)
Return & Refund Terms:
- Returns are accepted only if:
- The item is faulty, damaged, expired, or not as described; or
- We shipped the wrong item.
- Proof of purchase is required for all claims.
- Refunds or replacements will be processed in accordance with the ACL.
- For change-of-mind returns, items may be accepted at our discretion if:
- Returned within 14 days of delivery
- Unused, original, and in resalable condition; and
- In the original packaging.
- Custom or made-to-order products (e.g. framed/printed artworks) are not eligible for change-of-mind returns.
- Customers are responsible for return postage costs unless the return is due to our error.
- Please contact us before returning any item to receive instructions and approval.

Please include your order number, item name, reason for return, and photos (if relevant). We’ll guide you through the next steps.
- Refund Processing
- Refunds will be processed using your original payment method or bank EFT.
- Please allow up to 10 business days for your refund to appear once we receive and verify your return.
- Shipping costs are non-refundable unless the return is due to an error or a product fault.
- Australian Consumer Law (ACL)
Our goods and services come with guarantees that cannot be excluded under the ACL.
You are entitled to a replacement or refund for a major failure and compensation for any other reasonably foreseeable loss or damage.
If goods fail to be of acceptable quality and the failure does not amount to a major failure, you are entitled to have the goods repaired or replaced.
- Exclusions
The following items are not eligible for return unless faulty:
- Opened or used consumable goods (e.g., tea, food, or alcohol)
- Customised or made-to-order items
- Items returned outside the specified timeframe
- Damaged or Incorrect Orders
If your item arrives damaged or you receive the wrong product:
- Contact us within 7 days of receiving your order.
- Provide photos of the packaging and the item.
- Keep the packaging and the item until we confirm the next steps.
We’ll arrange a replacement, refund, or repair as appropriate.
